Cinco de Mayo is more popular in the United States than in Mexico. It has become associated with celebrating Mexican-American culture. In the U.S., there are over 120 official Cinco de Mayo celebrations across 21 states. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza led the outnumbered and less equipped Mexican troops to victory against a larger, well-equipped French force.

Stephen Curry scored 31 points to lead the Warriors to a 95-85 win over the Rockets in Game 1 of their playoff series. Alperen Sengun had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets in a game where they defeated the Warriors, snapping the Warriors' five-game winning streak. Dillon Brooks scored 24 points for the Rockets in that victory.

Hollie Alexandra Hughes is an Australian politician who was elected as a Senator for New South Wales at the 2019 federal election. She won the most votes in the Liberal Party's Senate preselection ballot for the 2019 federal election and was first on the Coalition's Senate ticket in New South Wales. Hollie Hughes was also an American horse trainer who won the Kentucky Derby with George Smith in 1916. She was a successful steeplechase runner trainer and was married to actress Grace Davison from 1926 until her death in 1964.

In Game 6 of the Western Conference playoffs, Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors with 29 points but shot poorly from the field (9-23 FG, 6-16 3Pt). He also had seven rebounds, two assists, one block, and two steals. Despite Curry's performance, the Warriors lost to the Rockets 115-107. This game marked the first time Curry and his brother Seth faced each other in the NBA.

A Russian Su-30 fighter jet was destroyed by a sea drone strike carried out by Ukraine's military intelligence. This marks the first time a sea drone has taken down a jet. The strike was conducted by Group 13, a special unit within HUR, using a Magura sea drone equipped with a missile warhead. This is not the first time Ukraine has used these drones; they previously downed two Russian Mi-8 helicopters in December 2024. Russia has used Su-30 jets to counter Ukrainian maritime drones for several years. This incident could force Russian jets to operate further away from Ukrainian waters and use more expensive weapons.

A year after the death of celebrity chef Jock Zonfrillo, the Coroner’s Court of Victoria is still investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing.
