The Sycamore Gap tree, a 150-year-old sycamore near Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland, England, has been cut down. It was a popular spot for photographers and inspired many creatives. Author LJ Ross even named one of her novels after it. In March, new life sprouted from rescued seeds and twigs of the tree. Artist Lucy Pittaway, who painted the Sycamore Gap tree, is planting trees at the Swinton Estate for every print copy of her artwork sold, hoping to create a new woodland. The tree was first documented in sketches and maps dating back to the 1800s and even competed in the 2017 European Tree of the Year contest, where it placed fifth.

The "Final Destination" franchise consists of films with a unique premise. A common element is a character who narrowly escapes a deadly disaster, only to be haunted by visions of future deaths among their surviving loved ones. They then try desperately to prevent these tragedies, leading to increasingly elaborate and gruesome scenarios. The series has expanded beyond film into comic books. "Final Destination: Sacrifice" was released alongside the DVD of "Final Destination 3," while "Final Destination: Spring Break" was published by Zenescope Entertainment in 2007. Visual effects are a notable aspect of the franchise, particularly in films like "The Final Destination" (2009) and "Final Destination 5" (2011). While drawing inspiration from slasher films, the action sequences often borrow elements from disaster and action cinema genres, as seen in "Final Destination 3's" iconic roller coaster derailment.

Former Australian leg-spinner Stuart MacGill was found guilty of a lesser drug supply charge related to an incident at his restaurant in April 2021. While acquitted of participating in a large commercial drug operation, the jury determined MacGill knew about a cocaine deal involving his regular dealer and brother-in-law but was unaware a kilogram brick was being exchanged. He initially denied involvement to police six days later despite admitting to introducing one party to another involved in the deal. MacGill's defense argued that the main witness was dishonest and motivated to reduce his own sentence by implicating MacGill. The former cricketer, known for his partnership with Shane Warne, achieved notable milestones during his career, including being the fastest spinner to reach 150 Test wickets. He also faced legal challenges in the past, suing Cricket Australia for unpaid injury payments after retiring in 2008.
