Trooping the Colour is a tradition dating back to the 17th century. Since 1755, it has been part of the daily Guard Mounting on Horse Guards in London. Trump's Tariffs Spark Security Concerns and Trade Tensions With Canada

President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China as a response to an emergency situation he declared due to illegal immigration and drug trafficking. He cited the influx of gang members, smugglers, human traffickers, and narcotics as posing a threat to national security. Trump implemented a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods and a 10% tariff on Chinese imports. He argued that these tariffs prioritize American safety and national security. The U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) came into effect in 2020, aiming to reshape trade relations between the three countries. The USMCA trade in goods and services reached an estimated $1.8 trillion in 2022, with the U.S. having a service trade surplus of $26 billion. Canadian researchers are also feeling the impact of funding cuts in US research agencies, disrupting collaborative projects with their American counterparts.
