The Florida Panthers are the most recent Stanley Cup champions, winning both the 2024 and 2025 finals. A controversy arose when the Stanley Cup trustees refused to allow the Cup to travel west in a specific year because Victoria, a challenger team, had not formally notified them. There are three versions of the Stanley Cup: the original bowl from 1892, the authenticated "Presentation Cup" from 1963, and the "Permanent Cup" on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Lord Stanley never witnessed a Stanley Cup game or presented the Cup himself.

Voyager 1 and its twin, Voyager 2, are the only spacecraft to operate outside the heliosphere, the Sun's protective bubble. Voyager 1 reached the interstellar boundary in 2012 while Voyager 2, traveling slower in a different direction, reached it in 2018. Both probes continue to send data back to Earth. In October 2020, astronomers detected a significant unexpected increase in density beyond the Solar System as measured by both Voyager probes. NASA plans to upgrade the software on both Voyagers, starting with Voyager 2 due to its proximity to Earth. Voyager 1 is projected to be as far away from Earth as several nearby stars in about 50,000 years.
