Iran's nuclear program has been under international scrutiny due to concerns about its potential to develop nuclear weapons. Israel attacked Iran's nuclear facilities in June 2025, raising alarm bells about the country's capabilities. Despite claims by Iranian officials that they do not seek nuclear weapons, their possession of centrifuges and uranium enrichment capabilities have fueled anxieties. A 2015 nuclear deal aimed to address these concerns by limiting Iran's nuclear activities. Under this agreement, Iran reduced its centrifuges to a significantly lower number (6,104) for a decade. The deal also eliminated Iran's access to weapons-grade plutonium production. Additionally, the agreement includes stringent monitoring and inspection protocols to ensure compliance.
