The NHS Pay Review Body has recommended a 3% pay rise for NHS nurses and other Agenda for Change staff. The government could reject the recommendation and stick to the previously offered 2.8%. Last year, the government accepted the full recommendations of the pay review bodies, resulting in raises between 4.75% and 6% that ended widespread industrial action. The independent pay review bodies consider overall earnings in both the public and private sectors, as well as the forecast inflation rate, when making their recommendations. There is pressure for "fully funded" pay awards to ensure experienced staff remain and new recruits join.
