In 1971, India aided East Pakistan's independence, leading to the creation of Bangladesh. The 1972 Simla Agreement attempted to improve relations but tensions persist. Recent events involve accusations by India against Pakistan for harboring a group responsible for an attack. This has led to military buildups and heightened concerns of an imminent conflict. The history of the conflict is marked by several wars, including the 1965 war. Operation Gibraltar saw Pakistani soldiers disguised as Kashmiri locals infiltrate Indian-controlled Kashmir.
