After the foundation of Pakistan, Balochistan acquired provincial status, and Quetta became its capital. Quetta has a cold semi-arid climate (BSk) with significant temperature variation between summer and winter. Unlike eastern Pakistan, it lacks a monsoon season. The city received snow in 2002 after a five-year gap. From 2004 to 2005, normal rainfall followed three years without snowfall. From 2006 to 2009, there was no snow.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft known for its maneuverability and combat radius. It incorporates advanced aerospace science and reliable systems from aircraft like the F-15 and F-111. The F-16's effectiveness was demonstrated during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, where it flew more sorties than any other aircraft. The Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS) is a vital safety feature developed by Lockheed Martin that has saved numerous pilots and F-16s since its implementation in 2014. This system significantly reduces controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) incidents, which account for a substantial percentage of aircraft losses and F-16 pilot fatalities. The F-16 is primarily used by the United States Air Force but is also operated by several other countries, including those in Europe such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Norway. Notable events involving the F-16 include air combat engagements between Turkish and Greek F-16s, the downing of a Syrian helicopter and a Russian Su-24 by Turkish Air Force F-16s.

Imran Khan blames Munir for his wife's incarceration and has threatened him. Munir is a proponent of the two-nation theory, which was the basis for Pakistan's creation in 1947. He acknowledges concerns about foreign investment due to terrorism and states that the army will strongly address separatist movements in Balochistan.

The E-3 Sentry, an airborne warning and control system (AWACS), uses radar and computers to gather battlefield information. It can operate independently or within larger air control systems. AWACS played a crucial role in operations like Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, and Enduring Freedom. Upgrades like the Radar System Improvement Program (RSIP) enhanced its electronic counter-measures capabilities, reliability, and availability. The ongoing Block 40/45 modernization program aims to extend its service life. AWACS systems are designed for long-range detection of aircraft, ships, vehicles, missiles, and other threats. They also provide command and control by directing friendly fighter aircraft during aerial engagements. Modern AWACS often combine early warning with advanced command and control functions. Examples include the EL/W-2085 system used by Israel on Gulfstream G550s and the Embraer R-99 with an Ericsson Erieye PS-890 radar used by several air forces. NATO AWACS aircraft contribute to global security by providing surveillance and situational awareness, particularly for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
