The Supreme Court rejected Vodafone Idea's curative petition regarding Adjusted Gross Revenues (AGR) dues, causing its stock to drop 21% to ₹10.69. The company had challenged a 2019 verdict requiring it to pay license fee and spectrum charges as AGR dues to the Department of Telecom (DoT). Telecom companies are required to pay 8% of their AGR as license fee and 3% as spectrum usage fee to the DoT. Vodafone Idea faces significant debts, including AGR dues and obligations to suppliers like Indus Towers, and has also been losing subscribers. A positive court ruling could have slashed its AGR dues by about 46% to around INR384 billion (US$4.6 billion).
