The G-7, comprising Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, has held regular meetings since the mid-1980s at the finance minister and central bank governor level. The G-20, meeting similarly since 1999, rose to prominence in 2008 when its country leaders began meeting regularly to address the global financial crisis. By 2009, it became the premier international economic forum. A paper from May 13, 2017, titled "Gender Budgeting in G7 Countries," summarizes trends in gender equality within G7 and advanced countries, highlighting ongoing progress while acknowledging persistent gaps.
