The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the 21st edition and the first to feature 32 clubs from the six continental confederations. Discussions in late 2017 proposed expanding the competition to 24 teams and holding it every four years, replacing the FIFA Confederations Cup. The European Club Association opposed this decision, suggesting European clubs boycott the new competition. On December 16, 2022, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced that the Club World Cup would expand to 32 clubs starting in 2025. The revamped tournament will be held in the United States on June 23, 2023, a year before the 2026 World Cup also hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.

South Korean authorities investigating a Jeju Air plane crash last month have submitted a preliminary accident report to the UN aviation agency and authorities of the United States, France, and Thailand. The investigation aims to determine the accurate cause of the accident. The aircraft crashed into an embankment, resulting in fire and a partial explosion. Both engines were buried in soil, and the fore fuselage scattered up to 30-200 meters from the embankment. The report does not specify what caused the two data recorders to stop recording simultaneously before pilots declared mayday. The crash occurred on December 29th when Flight 2216 was en route from Bangkok to Muan County, South Korea. It is considered the deadliest plane crash in South Korea since 2018. Families of those who perished have filed a criminal complaint against 15 individuals, including the transport minister and Jeju Air's CEO, alleging professional negligence. Police already initiated a criminal investigation before the complaint and barred the airline CEO from leaving the country. No indictments have been made yet.

They plan to organize actions across the country on Flag Day (June 14), focusing attention away from the parade. No Kings protests have already taken place in various cities both domestically and internationally ahead of the military parade. Protesters criticize the estimated $25 million to $45 million cost of the event, calling it a wasteful expenditure.
