Deandre Ayton was born on July 23, 1997. He plays center for the Los Angeles Lakers. Ayton played college basketball at Arizona. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 2018 NBA draft. After a successful stint with the Portland Trail Blazers, Ayton joined the Lakers in 2023 on a two-year contract. The US Men's National Team (USMNT) faces Guatemala in the Concacaf Gold Cup semifinals at Energizer Park in St. Louis. This is the USMNT's 17th semifinal appearance in 18 Gold Cup tournaments and they are seeking their eighth title. The average international experience of the 26-player roster is just 16 caps. St. Louis native Tim Ream will play in his hometown for the first time in a Gold Cup setting. USMNT history against Guatemala dates back to 1977 with 27 total meetings, including three in the Gold Cup. Guatemala last advanced to the semifinals in 1996. This summer's Gold Cup is the USMNT's final tournament preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The USMNT advanced to the semifinals after topping Group D with three straight wins and defeating Costa Rica in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals.
