Japan has released plans to evacuate over 100,000 civilians from remote islands near Taiwan in case of conflict between China and Taiwan. The evacuees would be transported to eight prefectures in southwestern and western Japan within six days. Defense Minister Gen Nakatani expressed a "strong sense of crisis" among residents living on these border islands. Okinawa, with its nearly 50,000 US troops, could be a crucial military location during any Taiwan emergency.

UK Carrier Strike Group Embarks on New Mission to Indo-Pacific

The UK Carrier Strike Group (UKCSG) is a carrier battle group of the Royal Navy. The earliest iteration formed in 2006. This follows CSG21's deployment and is the first carrier-led mission since then. Exercise Strike Warrior in September 2024 marked the first deployment of 809 NAS on a Royal Navy carrier after its recommissioning. HMS Prince of Wales has been visited by HM King Charles III as it prepares for CSG25.
