He's known as the "Queen of Drag" and is considered the most commercially successful drag queen in the United States. In 2008, RuPaul began producing "RuPaul's Drag Race," a reality television game show that aired on Logo in February 2009. The show has been successful domestically and internationally, with international variants like "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" and "Canada's Drag Race." There are also spin-offs including "RuPaul's Drag U," "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars," and "RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race."

The Sycamore Gap tree, a 150-year-old sycamore by Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland, England, was felled on September 28, 2023. The tree was popular with photographers and creatives, inspiring many works of art. In March 2024, new life sprouted from rescued seeds and twigs of the Sycamore Gap tree. Artist Lucy Pittaway, who painted the tree, is planting trees at the Swinton Estate for every print copy she sells to create a new woodland.

In 2023, Carol and Stephen Baxter were found dead in their Mersea, Essex home by their daughter Ellena. A toxicology report revealed they died from overdoses of fentanyl-laced medication. Their daughter Ellena and Luke D'Wit were arrested. D'Wit manipulated them, lacing their medication with fentanyl while using fake identities to control their lives.
